Helen D. Masterson, of Chesterton, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Waters of Duneland in Chesterton. She was 82.

Helen was born on Feb. 2, 1926 in East Chicago, Ind. to Frank and Anna (Hornack) Zona, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Aug. 7, 1948 in East Chicago, Ind. she married Verne Masterson who preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include two sons; Chuck (Jenny) Masterson of Newburgh; and Dee (Terry) Masterson of Michigan City; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers; Paul Zona, and John Zona, and sisters; Anna Pavelka, Betty Miller, Mildred Swift and Christine Zona.

Helen was a beautician for over 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chesterton and the Chesterton Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.

A private family service will be held at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home in Chesterton. Entombment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Memorial donations in Helen’s name would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
