Gloria J. Isbey dies at 82

Gloria J. Isbey, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at her home. She was 82.

She was born Dec. 12, 1925 in Porter, the daughter of John Oliver and Augusta (Stephens) Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Sept. 7, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Porter, she married Arthur “Bud” Isbey, who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by a daughter, Linda (Red) Elder, of Federal Way, Wash.; a son, Rick Isbey, of Everett, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Bryan and Rachel Elder, Rikki, Maggie, Phylicia, Starla and Gloria Savannah Isbey; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Dorothy) Johnson, of Crown Point and two sisters, Valerie Sharples of Tuscon, Ariz. and Loretta Behrens, of Portage.

Gloria was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chesterton, where she sang in the choir for many years for funerals, weddings and other events. She enjoyed sewing and gardening as her hobbies.

Funeral services, Rev. Erich Fickel officiating, will be at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E. 1100N Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
