Ethel Amy Sarah Anderson dies at 95

Ethel Amy Sara Anderson, of Chesterton, passed away early Sunday, December 23, 2007. She was 95.

She was born April 15, 1912.

The ashes of her husband Ralph, who died in January 2000, have been awaiting hers. They will be buried together as was their wish. In summer 2008, the services and burial will be at Augsburg Lutheran Church, Porter.

She is survived by a son, David, who with his wife Arlene, lives in Pa.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Teresa Dyar and her husband Seung Taek Oh, of Texas, when she’s not working in Singapore; Catherine Dyar and her son Gus, of Ind.; Mary Ann Dyar, of Chicago; Thomas Dyar, his wife Jessica and their son, Joshua, of N.C.; John Dyar, who has lived and worked in Japan and has recently returned to the States; David Anderson, Jr. of Md. and Ronald Anderson of Va.

After graduating from high school, Ethel attended American Conservatory of Chicago at Gary. She was active in her Chesterton community, working to save the dunes and to create a visiting nurse association, entertaining through her talent as a pianist, teaching piano students in her home, playing golf, tennis and bridge, hosting many dinners and parties and most important to her, raising a family.

Her new friends at Moravian Manor in Pa. remember her for her lovely, warm smile and her quick sense of humor.

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Moravian Manor, Inc., 300 W. Lemon St., Lititz, Pa. 17543.
