Edward T. Dutcher Sr., died on February 13, 2008. He was 84.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1923 in Chesterton, and was a lifelong resident.
On May 30, 1943 he married Charlotte Zelinski of Chicago, now deceased and
later married Mollie Robinson, also deceased.
He is survived by a sister, Grace Hall of Chesterton; a daughter, Marie
Turner of Chesterton; sons, Edward Dutcher Jr. of Irvine, Calif.; Donald
(Susan) Dutcher of Chesterton; Thomas (Betty) Dutcher of Valparaiso; Peter
(Darlene) Dutcher of Union Mills, N.C.; stepchildren, Alex (Jeri) Robinson of
Valparaiso; Cathryn (Jerry) Callahan of Texas, Dwight (Shelia) Robinson of
S.C.; Curtis Robinson of S.C., David Lee (Dina) of Fla.; Marshealla (David)
Michael of N.C., Rufinia (Frank) Sherman of S.C., George Robinson of Ariz.;
and June (Jim) Hancock of S.C.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
one great-great grandchild and several step grandchildren and nieces and
nephews.
Edward was also preceded in death by his parents, Thorvald and Sadie Dutcher;
a brother, Francis Allen Dutcher; sister, Myrtle Malony; and son, Ronald
Dutcher
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1952 and was a faithful
member of the Chesterton congregation. He retired from US Steel after 42
years.
Memorial Service will be on Friday Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at the the Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the
funeral home.
