Betty L. Wight dies at 77

Betty L. Wight, of Chesterton, passed away Thursday evening, January 24, 2008 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 77.

She was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Marshall and Lulabell (Stringer) Edwards, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband John C. Wight, of Chesterton.

She is also survived by children, Diana Klecka, of Westville, Ronald Coleman Piers, of Indianapolis, Michael David (Daren) Piers, of Flagler Beach, Fla., Anna (Victor) Kadish, of Westville, Vincent Piers, of Hobart, Gerald (Amy) Piers, of Valparaiso, Linda (Mark) Babido, of Texas, Wendy (Art) Coleman, of the Pines, Michigan City, Karl (Beth) Wight, of Valparaiso; numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Bucky Edwards, Donnie Edwards and Perry Edwards, all of Indianapolis and her loving canine Brutus.

She was also preceded in death by a son Brian Piers on June 12, 1999.

Betty was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton. She loved working in her garden and her yard and enjoyed basket weaving.

Funeral services, Fr. James Meade and Fr. Terry Bennis officiating, was at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

The family received friends Sunday and a Prayer Service was held Sunday evening.

Interment was at Chesterton Cemetery.
