Barry L. Kahotdies at 64

Barry L. Kahot, of Chesterton, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. He was 64.

He was born Oct. 3, 1943 in Clairton, Pa., the son of John and Dorothy (Kane) Kahot, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Oct. 14, 2006 at Valparaiso University Chapel, he married Jalane Griffon, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by two daughters, Holly L. (Eric) Nance, of Valparaiso and Shannon A. (Matt) Konz, of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Carter, Sadie and Myah; two step-daughters, Stacy (Michael) Leech, of Mansfield, Ohio and Bethany L. (Adam) Jaworski, of Chesterton and step-grandchildren, Seth, Olivia and Alexa.

Barry was a member of Elks Lodge #500 of Valparaiso and he had a great interest in model trains. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He was a graduate of Valparaiso University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was retired plant manager for Union Electric Steel.

Funeral services, Rev. Fred Niedner officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

Please note the family will receive friends Thursday, April 24 from 4-8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
