Barbara A Humbert dies at 77

Barbara A. Humbert, of Trail Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 28 at St. Anthony Memorial Health Care Center, Michigan City. She was 77.

She was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Porter, the daughter of Henning and Violet (Carlson) Hokanson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On June 9, 1951 in Porter, she married Kenneth Humbert, who survives in Trail Creek.

She is also survived by a daughter, Debbie (Ron) Kerwin of Michigan City; a brother, David (JoAnn) Hokanson of Porter; a sister, Linnea Hokanson of Porter; a sister-in-law, Lila Hudgens of Valparaiso; a brother-in-law, Wayne (Muriel) Humbert of Saginaw, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Hokanson.

Barbara had been a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved to cook, especially baking and decorating cakes for special occasions and family gatherings. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved to travel and vacation in the family motorhome. She also enjoyed hand sewing as well as crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch. She helped sew many of the costumes for plays and musicals at Elston Sr. High School. Barbara will always be remembered as a devoted wife and loving, caring mother and friend.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 2 at Carlisle Funeral Home. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
