Anna Marie Alsman Elder dies at 81

Anna Marie Alsman Elder, of Chesterton, passed away on Monday March 17, 2008 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 81.

Anna was born in Terre Haute, on July 8, 1926, the daughter of Guy and Charlotte (Webb) Alsman, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Feb. 3, 1943 in Terre Haute, she married Wilber F. Elder who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, David (Barbara Jean) Elder of Marion, Texas; a daughter, Jeri Hughes of Chesterton; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Watkins, Sarah Hughes, Judy Lynn, David Elder Jr., Darrick Elder; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Brandon and Anthony Watkins.

She was also preceded by a brother, Guy Alsman.

Anna was a member of Porter United Methodist Church where she was involved with the Love Circle and Bible Study. Anna was a homemaker and also used to manage properties and hotels.

A Memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday March 27, at Porter United Methodist Church, 100 Beam St., Porter. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage. Interment of Ashes will be in Dilsboro, Ind. at a later date.

Memorials for Anna may be made to either Porter United Methodist Church or to Whispering Pines Nursing Home. Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home handled arrangements. www.ee-fh.com
