Ray E. Smith, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007. He was 58.

He was born May 25, 1949 in Gadsden, Ala., the son of Joe Henry and Frances (Pack) Smith.

On Dec. 21, 1971 in Crown Point he married Linda Snider, who preceded him in death, June 4, 2005.

He is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Joel) Krafft of Chesterton; a grandson, Austin; four brothers, Charles A. Smith, James C. Smith, Boyd Smith and David Smith and four sisters, Betty Killen, Pamela Martin, Debra Smith and Phyllis Pruitt.

Ray worked in food service at Valparaiso University.

Funeral services, Rev. Brenda Ludwig officiating, were at noon Monday, Aug. 27 at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was Monday.

Memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer.
