Michael Smich of Porter died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his home. He was 31.
Born Sept. 13, 1973 in Chicago, he was the son of William and Barbara (Pickelman)
Smich.
He is survived by his mother of Valparaiso; brother Scott Smich (wife Faith)
of Porter; sister Jen Smich of Valparaiso; nephews William and Caleb; aunt
Linda Cullen; cousins Brian Cullen (wife Stephanie), Chris Egelhoff (husband
Jim) and numerous other cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his
father.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Bosnia. He was a stationary
engineer in Chicago and a member of local #399. He played the mandolin in the
band Lazy Bones.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 4 p.m. at 385
Franciscan Drive, Valparaiso. Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., is in
charge of arrangements.
