Memorial services were held Jan. 26 at the Madeline and George Smirt
Neighborhood Center for Freda Rice, who volunteered and attended the Center
in Michigan City.
Friends of Freda, some from “The Lady Bugs” (a group of widows to which she
belonged), and friends of the Center gathered to remember and honor her.
(Interment was in Southern Indiana.)
Barbara Grusak of Chesterton began the service by reading from the Bible,
John 14:1-4 and Crystel Hrapek of Chesterton was soloist. Lunch was served
by the Center.
