Joseph H. Peterman, of Chesterton, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at his
residence. He was 90.
He was born Dec. 1, 1916 in Chesterton, the son of Joseph L. Peterman and
Anna Thoesen, both of whom preceded him in death.
On July 14, 1948 in Chesterton, he married Hazel L. Surdez, who survives.
He is also survived by a son, Michael (Beth) Peterman of Hobart; daughters,
Judy (Ed) Damm of Milford, Mich., Lois Peterman (Don Kuiken) of Chesterton;
Patricia (Troy) Haman of Kouts and Nancy (Tom) Natale of Valparaiso;
grandchildren, Ashley Haman, Tyler Haman and Spencer Natale.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Peterman; grandchildren,
Stephanie and Parker Natale and a sister Madolin Fry.
Joseph was a dairy farmer, member of Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick
Catholic Church, Farm Bureau and a life long 4-H supporter. He served as a
4-H leader, served on the 4-H Council and Fair Board. Just this year, he was
given the 4-H Life Time Achievement Award.
A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 11 a.m.
Monday, July 16 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd. Interment
will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday July 15 with a Wake service at 6 p.m.
at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
