John L. Findeisen, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at
Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. He was 76.
He was born April 27, 1930 in Chicago, the son of Richard and Florence (Hill)
Findeisen, both of whom preceded him in death.
On April 23, 1949 in Chicago, he married Betty Ann Rosenberger, who preceded
him in death Sept. 26, 1996. He was also preceded by his brother Richard
Findeisen.
He is survived by a son, Martin Findeisen of Chicago; a daughter, Laura
DeSousa of Chesterton; a sister, Evelyn Chura of Ill.; four grandchildren,
Benjamin (Jennifer) DeSousa, Nichole (Ryan) Crist, Nancy and John Findeisen
and a great-grandchild, Jackson DeSousa.
John retired in 1995 from the Plant Department of the University of Chicago.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a member of the U.S. Army
Signal Corps. He was a graduate of Bolen High School and was a member of
Chesterton American Legion Post 170 and the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders.
Funeral services, Rev. Erich Fickel officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday,
April 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E. CR 1100N, Chesterton. Cremation
will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage with interment of ashes at a later
date at Oakhill Cemetery, Hammond.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
