Jay R. Peterson dies at 38

Jay R. Peterson, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at his home. He was 38.

He was born Jan. 17, 1969 in Valparaiso, the son of Carl L. Peterson “Pops,” who survives in Portage and the late Linda Nance Peterson, who preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Lori (Kraft) who he affectionately called his “Sweet Biscuit” of Valparaiso.

He is also survived by two daughters, Ann Jacey Peterson of LaPorte and Jessica Peterson of Valparaiso; maternal grandmother, Betty Nance of Portage; a brother, Jeff (Jami) Peterson of Chesterton; a sister, Jody (Russ) Hilton of Portage; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Robbie, Nicole, Haley, Jason, Taylor, Brooke, Joe; a great niece, Makenzie and his beloved dog, Pita.

Jay was an Operating Engineer Local #150 for 22 years, member of Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623 and NRA. He loved fishing and was an avid gun collector. He loved working with his dad on replica muscle cars painting, restoring and tinkering. He was a perfectionist, loved all animals especially dogs.

Funeral services, will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Cremation will follow service at Calvary Crematory, Portage.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Family requests memorials to the family for a memorial fund yet to be decided.
