Jan Allen Kravcheno, Sr., dies at 64

Jan Allen Kravcheno, 64 of Kalida, Ohio, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in New Mexico.

He was born on July 31, 1942 in South Bend, Ind. to Jan and Adeline (Martin) Kravcheno. Jan was preceded in death by his father, Jan Kravcheno. His mother, Adeline McCann, survives in South Bend.

He is also survived by his former wife, Pat L. Kravcheno of Brighton, Tenn., two daughters, Penny Jensen-Pratt (husband, Michael) of Munford, Tenn. and Lisa Karoff (husband Phil) of Kalida, Ohio.; two sons, Jan Kravcheno Jr. (wife Lynn) of O'Fallon, Ill. and Daniel Kravcheno of Stillwell, Ind.; six grandchildren; a sister: Judy Chrisley of Pulaski, Va.; and two half sisters, Jana Lacera of Highland, Ind. and Lori Higgins (husband Bob) of Portage.

After high school, Jan served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. Jan retired from Bethlehem Steel Mill. He was a member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623, and had been active with the Senior PBA Tour. He had been a member since 1995. Jan was one of the PBA Senior Tour's most consistent participant. He competed in 82 PBA Senior Tour events. Jan most recently finished 15th in the PBA Senior Dayton Classic. He was also very active in PBA Pro-Ams, taking photographs of participants during the events.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Friends may visit with Jan's family on Friday, June 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. (574)272-4477.
