Chesterton resident James Rankin Gordon, Jr., a film reviewer and writer,
died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. He was 60.
Born in Northwest Indiana, he was the son of James and Elizabeth Gordon, who
preceded him in death. He is survived by cherished partner of 14 years,
Judith Germick; sister Betty Hall of Arizona; children James Rankin Gordon
III and Rachel Tednes; Nathan, Logan, Ryan, Dylan and Desiree Germick, for
whom he was a loving father figure; and grandchildren Andrew Thomas, Leah
Anne, James Rankin IV, Kevin Douglas, Patrick Scott and Katherine Ellyn.
Gordon was a writer, film critic and poet. He wrote for the
Post-Tribune for
21 years until June, 2006. He had been writing for the Times in the past
year.
He was an active and involved member of the First Unitarian Church of Hobart.
He loved people, fishing, reading and sports, especially the Bears and White
Sox. He is remembered as a great story teller and one-of-a-kind human being.
A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Hobart on
