Grace B. Brockway dies at 96

Grace B. Brockway, of Wanatah, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her residence. She was 96.

She was born June 19, 1910 in Porter, the daughter of Fredrick and Jefeffie (Wixon) Tharp, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Aug. 25, 1929, she married Clinton Brockway, who preceded her in death in 1972.

She is survived by a son, Clinton M. Brockway of Medaryville; a daughter, Aleta (Robert) Wilson of Wanatah; 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Lucielle Musgrave; brothers, Dale, Jackie, Edward and George Tharp and sisters, Vera Spencer and Doris Swisher.

Grace was a cook for 25 years at Cedar Lodge.

A funeral service will be at 6 p.m., Friday, June 1 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage with interment of ashes at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
