Dorothy J. Brown, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007. She was 74.

She was born Oct. 21, 1932 in DeMotte, the daughter of Elwood and Julia (Grenz) Hershman, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 17, 1965 in Valparaiso, she married Donald G. Brown, who preceded her in death Dec. 29, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter Lisa (Dan) Scobey of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Greg (Tina) Brown of Chesterton; four grandchildren and a brother, Leroy Hershman of Wheatfield.

She is also preceded by two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Hershman and a sister, Eleanor Weimer.

Dorothy was a registrar for the Porter County Health Department in the late 1950s to early 1960s and was a member of the Heartland Christian Center.

Funeral services, Pastor Phil Willingham officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Bartholomew Funeral Home.
