Dorothy Dietz Hamilton, formerly of Chesterton, died in Florida earlier this month after a brief illness. She was 83.

She was the daughter of Wayne F. and Marion Dietz, who preceded her in death, as did her husband Mark L. Hamilton, and a brother Don in 2001.

She is survived by four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Locally, she is survived by her brother, Wayne R. Dietz of Pine Twp, nephews Terry Dietz of Chesterton, Tim Dietz of Osceola, Ind. and niece Kerry Smiertelny of Chesterton.

Hamilton, also known as “Dee Dee” was a graduate of Chesterton High School, Class of 1941. She later graduated from Ball State University where she earned her undergraduate and masters degrees. She lived near Muncie, Ind.
