Cecelia Ann Tomlin dies at 98

Cecelia Ann Tomlin, 98, a life long resident of Peoria, passed away at 4 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Emergency Room.

She was born Feb. 24, 1909 in Peoria the daughter of James T. and Lizetta (Herweg) Gallagher.

On Aug. 23, 1931 in Peoria, she married Howard W. Tomlin, who passed away Jan. 1, 1972 in Peoria.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy A. Frasco of Peoria; one son, Ralph J. (Georgeann) Tomlin of Orland, Ind., formerly of Chesterton; five granddaughters; four grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren;

She was also preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, nine sisters and four brothers.

Cecelia worked in the Peoria County Courthouse in the Recorder of Deeds office. She was as active as anyone would want to be after retirement. You would have to make an appointment just to get her on the phone. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and itís Motherís Club, Church Women United, Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Womenís League, Girl Scouts, R.S.V.P. and OSF St. Francis Auxiliary.

A Funeral Mass was held 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Bernard Church with Rev. Brian Brownsey officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Church. Condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
