Verda Peek Wiemann dies at 98

Verda Peek Wiemann, of Chesterton, passed away Nov. 15, 2006 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 98.

She was born Aug. 23, 1908 in Louvale, Ga., the daughter of Clifford Franklin, Sr. and Lola Lucinda (Perryman) Peek, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was the widow of Marion R. Wiemann Sr.

She is survived by a son, Marion R. Wiemann Jr. of Chesterton; a sister, Margaret Johnson; a brother, Bill Peek of Chesterton; grandchild, Tamara Lee (Donald) Kelley and great-grandchildren, Schyler, Forrest and Marshall.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Frank Peek Jr. and a sister, Myrtis Wright.

She was an author and home maker. She was a former secretary of Retail Merchants and former co-editor of Valparaiso Reminder Newspaper. She graduated from Gary Business College and worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant during WWII.

Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

There will be no visitation.
