Thomas E. Scalley dies at 91

Thomas E. Scalley, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Whispering Pines.

He was 91.

He was born Dec. 6, 1915 in Boston, Mass., the son of John F. and Lucy M. (Rogers) Scalley.

On March 29, 1941 in Boston, he married Elva C. Atchison, who preceded him in death in 2000.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen (Warren) Johnston of Chesterton; one granddaughter, Kathleen McGrain of Chesterton and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Scalley.

Thomas had been a Tool and Die Maker with General Motors Fisher Body for over 30 years. He served during WWII first with the Merchant Marines then as part of the Army Transportation Corps in Europe.

Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, private burial of ashes will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Memorials may be made to Whispering Pines Health Care Center or the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
