Penelope J. Silakowski nee Coslet dies at 62

Penelope J. Silakowski “Penny” (nee Coslet) passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at the home of her daughter, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62.

She was born in Porter, Indiana. Both of her parents, Leslie Coslet and Esther Stoiber, preceded her in death.

She was the widow of Ronald Silakowsk who preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by two daughters, April (Christopher) Krakar of Lemont, Ill. and Melody Silakowski of Lockport, Ill.; grandchildren, Alyssa, Christian, Dajon, Katelyn, Grace and Jaden; one brother, David (Margaret “Peggy”) Stoiber of Plainfield, Ill.; sister-in-law Shirley (late Bob) Coslet of Indiana, Gerald (Eydie) Silakowski of Monee, Ill. and Carl (Sue Ellen) Silakowski of Joliet, Ill.; also survived by several half-brothers, half-sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Coslet; and one sister, Ruthie Campbell.

Born in Porter, she was a Joliet, Ill. area resident for over 50 years. She attended St. Francis Academy. She was a dedicated homemaker and was truly devoted to her children. She was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Penelope was a lover of animals, especially dogs.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, Ill. In accordance with Penelope’s wishes, Cremation Rites will be accorded.

Visitation will be Thursday at 2 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that all memorials be directed to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
