Mary M. Ribar, of Valparaiso, passed away Nov. 14, 2006 at VNA Horton
Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 79.
She was born Jan. 12, 1927 in Portage, the daughter of Andrew and Opal
(Wallace) Volk, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Aug. 16, 1947 in Lake Station, she married Leonard G. Ribar, who preceded
her in death July 1, 2000.
She is survived by sons, Terry (Rosa) Ribar of Valparaiso, Dennis (Pam)
Ribar of Chesterton, Richard (Patricia) Ribar of Valparaiso; sister, Helen
Needs of Portage; a brother, Andrew (Pat) Volk of Portage; seven
grandchildren, Melissa, David (Michelle), Todd (Michelle), Joseph (Sarah),
Dale, Christopher and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Troy and Ella and
loving sister-in-law, Joella Ribar and her family.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Horvath and two
brothers, Russell and Richard.
Mary was a home maker. She was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic
Church. She was a member of Portage War Mothers Unit 135. She was happily
married for 52 years. She will be missed. She was loved.
Funeral services, Fr. Terry Bennis officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Friday,
Nov. 17 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton.
Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. A War Mothers Service will be held at 3 p.m.
and wake service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
