Mary G. Krause dies at 71

Mary G. Krause, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 71.

She was born Oct. 11, 1935 in Brevort, Mich. the daughter of Burton and Mary (Weber) Fenely, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Jan. 1, 1955 in Engadine, Mich., she married Richard M. Krause, who preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1991.

She is survived by a son, Bruce (Lisa) Krause of Michigan City; three daughters, Lt. Colonel (Retired) Kathy (George) Higgins of Hillsborogh, N.C., Pamela (Rollie) Sanders of Chesterton and Sharon (Richard) Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister Nora (Richard) Salter of Montrose, Mich.; two brothers, Charles (Samantha) Feneley of Mesa, Ariz. and Archibald (Yvonne) Feneley of Engadine, Mich.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Kurt Thomas Krause.

She was a home maker and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was an area resident since 1969, coming from Park Forest, Ill. She was a former member of the Westchester Bowling League and the Robinhurst Golf League. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose, Chesterton Lodge, where she was known as the “Wild Woman of the Moose”. She was a loving, caring, mother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Horton Hospice Center.
