Joseph Hanrath dies at 25

Former Chesterton resident Joseph L. Hanrath died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind. A resident of South Bend, he was 25.

Hanrath was born March 3, 1981, in Valparaiso, the son of David P. and Cynthia (Martin) Hanrath, who survive in Chesterton.

He is also survived by a daughter, Justice Hanrath and her mother Amber Belhuemer, both of Indianapolis; grandparents June and Fred Dreganowski of Valparaiso and Marty and Dorothy Martin of Gary; sisters Sherri (husband Paul) Zapinski of South Lake, Tenn.; Alexis (husband Mark) Miller of Chesterton; Jackie Hanrath of Michigan City; Ricke (husband Keith) Little of Chesterton; Melony Hanrath of Goodland, Ind.; and Tenelle Hanrath of Chesterton; brothers David Hanrath of Lowell; Joe (wife Kandy) Hanrath of Chesterton; Frank (wife Holly) Hanrath of Michigan City; Rolf Carson of Valparaiso; Chris Hanrath of Valparaiso; and Christopher Hanrath of Chesterton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Christy Hanrath.

He was a Chesterton High School graduate and wrestled throughout high school, was attending Ivy Tech, and worked in catering at Notre Dame.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton, with cremation at Heritage Crematory in Portage.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at Edmonds & Evans.
