James C. Phillips dies at 65

James C. Phillips, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. He was 65.

He was born June 26, 1941 in Valparaiso the son of Clyde James Phillips, who preceded him in death, and Charlotte M. (Skibbie) Phillips who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by former wife, Carole R. Phillips of Chesterton.

Also surviving are three daughters, Jodie (Adam) Friday of Gary, Jamie Phillips of Michigan City and Julie Phillips Wilkerson of Michigan City; and four grandchildren Matthew and Taylor Friday, Kaylah Phillips and Kody Wilkerson.

James was retired as the Street Commissioner for the Town of Porter. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He also worked security maintenance at Indian Oak Inn. He was a former member of the Chesterton Moose Lodge and a Chesterton Volunteer Fire Department and a former League Bowler at Westchester Lanes.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. Terry Bennis officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Cremation at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund.
