Gilbert W. Teagarden dies at 85

Gilbert W. Teagarden, of Kenmore, N.Y., formerly of Chesterton, passed away Oct. 23, 2006 in Kenmore. He was 85. He was born in Beatrice, Neb.

He is survived by wife, Mary (Tomczak) Teagarden; children, Dennis (Donna), Diane (Richard) Smith, Janet (Douglas) D’Addario, Thomas Damiani, Phillip (Lucinda) and Robert (Sharon) Teagarden; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; step children and step grandchildren and nephew, Ed Gustafson of Chesterton.

Gilbert was an electrical engineer. He graduated from Chesterton High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Forces. He retired from Western Electric after 30 years. He also had a heating and air-conditioning company and a wedding photography business that he continued until his retirement from Western Electric. (His father re-upholstered furniture in Chesterton for 30 years.)

Funeral services were in Kenmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. or the Parkinson’s Foundation. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dengler and Roberts Funeral Home.
