David Arvid 'Arvie' Boo dies at 85

David A. Boo memorial is Saturday

A memorial service for David Arvid “Arvie” Boo will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 2 at Augsburg Evangelical Church.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church in Porter.

Interment will be private. Posted 12/1/2006

 

David Arvid “Arvie” Boo, of Burns Harbor, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. He was 85.

He was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Westchester Twp. the son of David W. and Amelia (Johnson) Boo, both of whom preceded him in death.

On July 31, 1943 at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Porter, he married Maxine Wilson, who survives in Burns Harbor.

He is also survived by three sons, David (Cathy) Boo, of Lockport, Ill., Donald (Frances) Boo of Davie, Fla. and Daniel (Cindy) Boo of Morgan Twp., nine grandchildren, David, Scott, Brandon, Aaron, Rachael, Sarah, Joseph, Erik and Kellie Boo; several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hilmer (Maralyne) Boo of Steger, Ill., Warren (Betty) Boo of Burns Harbor, Glenn (Louisa) Boo of Ft. Myers, Fla., Roger Boo of Chesterton; one sister, Alice (William) Ernst, Noblesville; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Boo of Westville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Arvid Boo; a sister, Irma Boo and a brother, Irwin Boo.

Boo was a life-long member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, Porter. He was a 1941 graduate of Chesterton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the Duneland School Corp. as Supervisor of Maintenance. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working in his yard.

A memorial service, Pastor Erik R. Bernth officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
