Charles V. Yingling, Jr. dies at 74

Charles V. Yingling, Jr., of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at home. He was 74.

He was born March 30, 1932 in Baltimore, Md. the son of Charles V. Sr. and Barbara (Birkel) Yingling, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by a sister, Doris Anderson of Chesterton; two nieces Victoria (Bill) Crockett and Jeanne (Randy) Crownover, both of Chesterton; two nephews, Gary (Therese) Anderson and Todd (Sheri) Anderson, both of Chesterton; great-nieces, Jennifer and Lisa Anderson and Samantha Crownover; great-nephews, Bill (Kristen), Patrick and Stephen Crockett, Michael (Chastity Scott) Anderson and David and Nathan Crownover and great-great nieces, Isabelle Anderson and Alyssa Crockett.

Charles was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a client of Opportunity Enterprises for 20 years. He was so well loved, people said he should be Mayor of OE. He was a dedicated football and Baltimore Orioles baseball fan.

Funeral service, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Cremation was at Heritage Crematory, Portage, with interment of ashes at Holy Cross Cemetery, Baltimore Md.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to either Opportunity Enterprises or to VNA Horton Hospice.
