Charles A. Chuck Ward dies at 57

Charles A. “Chuck” Ward, of Chesterton, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. He was 57.

He was born March 1, 1949 in Valparaiso the son of Vernon and Joyce (Adams) Ward, both of whom survive in Westville.

On Feb. 14, 1981 in Chesterton, he married Jackie L. Marquardt, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by two sons, Brian (Michelle) Ward of Avon and Kyle Marquardt of Chesterton; a daughter, Christy (Stephen) Adney of Valparaiso; a sister, Roxanne (Steve) Collins of Valparaiso; a brother, Keith (Rose) Ward of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Ashlee Ward, River Marquardt and Maya Marquardt and special buddy, A.J. Jones of Westville.

Also, several nieces and nephews, among them, Tracie (Jerry) Wise, Angela Kosmatka, James Robert Kosmatka II (fiancée Cathy) and McKenzie Ward; great nephews, Andrew and Anthony Wise, mother-in-law, Joan Palen and in-laws, Chris (Jim) Kosmatka, Bob Marquardt, Ronnie (Sally) Marquardt and Jamie Hollandsworth.

Ward was retired from National Steel after 33 years. He worked for Paulson Oil Company as a driver since 2000. He was a member of Chesterton Moose Lodge 1623 and was a Past Governor. He also was a member of the Legion of the Moose. He was a member of Westchester Bowling League and loved to golf with special friends.

There will be no services. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
