William 'Bill' Connett dies at 72

William “Bill” Connett, of Chesterton, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at his residence. He was 72.

He was born May 13, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Mahlon and Bernice Connett, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Sept. 7, 1957 in Chicago, he married Nancy Zuelke, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by two sons, Barry (Cyndi) Connett of Littleton, Colo. and Brian (Susan) Connett of Torrance, Calif. and three grandchildren, Ian, Dylan and Rosella.

Bill was an area resident since 1973. He was employed as Vice President Construction for Bergland Construction and prior at The University of Chicago as Superintendent of Maintenance. He was a former member of Chesterton Lions Club and he served in the U.S. Army infantry during the Korean Conflict.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be directly at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. (No service at the Funeral Home). Cremation will follow services at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice of Porter County or to the Emphysema Foundation.
