Thomas R. Hendricks service set

Thomas R. Hendricks of Knox, Ind., died on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 in LaCrosse. He was 58.

Born on Feb. 13, 1947 in Bloomington, Ill., he was the son of Emmit Hendricks, who preceded him in death in 1984, and Rita Furminger Hendricks of Portage.

On July 17, 1965 in Hammond, he married Geraldine “Geri” Harris Hendricks, who survives in Knox.

Also surviving are daughter Joy Luke (husband Daniel) of Chesterton; son Frank Hendricks (wife Marci) of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren Samantha, Gregory, Nathan, Bryce and Zoe; sister, Peggy Green (Mike) of Portage; and brother, Emmit Hendricks (Judy) of Hammond.

He was a retired police officer after 20 years of service with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church. He worked as a Hammond police officer from March 1, 1972 until Oct. 1, 1976. He joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Department on Jan. 1, 1982 and served until his retirement on May 15, 2002 as a sergeant. He was also a member of Chesterton American Legion Post 170 and the Knox V.F.W.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will follow at the Heritage Crematory in Portage. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Toys For Tots or to ABATE.
