Rose M. Smith dies at 92

Rose M. Smith, of Chesterton, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at the waters of Duneland, Chesterton. She was 92.

She was born Feb. 6, 1913 in Stewardson, Ill., the daughter of Olis and Caroline (Fischer) Ashenbramer, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Feb. 13, 1933 in Decatur, Ill., she married Ben Smith, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris Davidson of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Sharon (Ralph) Martin, of Avon Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Rose, youngest of 12 children, was also preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

A homemaker, Rose was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton, The Ladies Club of St. Pat’s and Westchester Senior Citizens Group.

Funeral Services, Chaplain Phil Muvich officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities.
