Paul J. Nelson, of The Pines, Michigan City, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 at St. Anthony Memorial Medical Center, Michigan City. He was 72.

He was born Dec. 1, 1932 in Chesterton, the son of Forrest and Bessie (Klein) Nelson, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Feb. 14, 1956 in Duluth, Minn., he married Judith Ann, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children, Douglas R. Nelson of Long Beach, Paula R. (Wayne) Pecina of Granger and Daniel F. (Callie) Nelson of Michigan City and five grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Cara, Dana, Lorelei and Danny.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Nelson of San Antonio, Texas.

Paul was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Michigan City. He was Treasurer of Porter County Democratic Committee, Chesterton. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1623 and a member of AOPA.

Funeral services, Pastor Victoria S. Ubben officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Porter County VNA Hospice Program.
