Mabel Fern Exline dies at 81

Mabel Fern Exline, 81, or rural Sullivan, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 in Sullivan County Community Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1924 in Sullivan County to Kersey and Rhook Sims Ransford.

Her husband, James K. “Sparky” Exline died in 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Everett) Gilham of Sullivan, Diana (Hank) Sisil of Jasonville and Sheila (Joe) Saikin of Chesterton; four grandchildren, Darin Sisil, Terri Swan, Brian Gilham and Spring Perry; two step-grandchildren, Christine Bucy and Joey Saikin Jr.; great-grandchildren, Waylon Swan, Katelyn Perry, Cole Gilham, Peyton Sisil, Carter Gilham and Addison Sisil; step-great grandchildren, Rebekah Saikin, Tori Bubac, Maxwell Lang and Kyle Bucy.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, James H. Ransford and two sisters, Mildred June Goodman and Cora Alice Ellis.

She was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Dugger Chapter 482 Order of Eastern Star, Dugger American Legion Auxiliary and Town and Country Home Economics Club.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 6 at Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger, with the Rev. Doug Tuttle officiating. Interment was in Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan.
