Linda Jean Hassel dies at 58

Linda Jean Hassel, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 28, 2005 at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center, Chicago. She was 58.

She was born Feb. 19, 1947 in Fort Sill, Okla., the daughter of Bernard and Patricia (Moran) Schiesser, both of whom preceded her in death.

In 1966 in Valparaiso, she married Robert Hassel, Jr., who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Hassel of Chesterton; three grandsons, Jeffrey Jr., Michael and Robert Hassel; five brothers, Harry Schiesser of Crown Point, Larry Schiesser of Valparaiso, Alan Schiesser of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Bruce and Richard Schiesser, both of Valparaiso and two sisters, Cindy Lockard of Chesterton and Lauree Resto of Smithville, Tenn.

Linda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chesterton. For the past 20 years, she, a crafter, specializing in crafts and florals, participated in many craft shows. She loved to travel and camp and she loved her cats. She was a member of “Just Us and Friends” Country Dance Club.

Funeral services, Rev. Erich Fickel officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E. 1100 N. Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1 at White-Love Funeral Home 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
