Henry L. 'Hank' Trausch dies at 74

Henry L. “Hank” Trausch, of Mentone, Ind., formerly of Rochester, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005 at the Hospice House of South Bend. He was 74.

He was born March 8, 1931 in Evanston, Ill. the son of Henry and Mary (Kramer) Trausch.

On November 21, 1954 in Skokie, Ill., he married Jane E. Bastow, who survives in Mentone.

He is also survived by two daughters, Karen (Donald) Chambly of Chesterton and Amy DeLa Cruz of Rochester; a son, Peter Trausch of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son-in-law, Rick DeLa Cruz of Pierceton; grandchildren, Sarah Frances DeLa Cruz of Rochester, Christopher DeLa Cruz of Pierceton, Brittany DeLa Cruz of Pierceton; a sister, Mary Ann Welch of Wheeling, Ill., several nieces and nephews and close family friends, Wendy Ruge and family of Chesterton.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Trausch.

Hank had been superintendent at Dean Foods, Rochester and Plant Manager at Liberty Dairy, Evart, Mich. until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Talma Lions Club and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fan and enjoyed woodworking.

Funeral services, Rev. Joseph Jacob officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Interment will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to Hospice House of South Bend.
