Helen Popiel dies at 87

Helen Popiel (nee Ptak), 87, of Grand Rapids, Mich., passed away peacefully, Friday, Oct. 21, 2005. She was the mother of Mary Kay Nallenweg of Chesterton.

She is survived by her children, Ernest (Judy) Popiel, James (Ruth) Popiel, all of Grand Rapids, Michael (Patty) Popiel of Pensacola, Fla., Joseph Popiel of Spring Lake, Mary Kay (Garry) Nallenweg of Chesterton; grandchildren, Mindy (Jim) Seufert, Jessica (Wayne) Stone of Winter Garden, Fla., Jordan Popiel, Ryan Popiel, Lisa (Dean) Nargi of San Francisco, Calif., Lori (Andy) Brillowsky, Katie Popiel, Bryan, Adam and Kristyn Nallenweg; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Jack and Ava; several nieces, nephews and in-laws and a special cousin, Josephine Kurdelski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Popiel and brother, Paul Ptak.

Mrs. Popiel was a member of St. Isidore Altar-Rosary Society. Helen’s family wishes to thank St. Ann’s Home, Hospice of Michigan and her caregivers, Marti and Fran.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at St. Isidore Church (please meet at the church). Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Her family will receive visitors Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Arsulowicz Brothers, East Chapel, 937 Michigan NE, where a Rosary Service will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Church.
