Helen Emelia Kelly dies at 86

Helen Emelia Kelly, of Valparaiso, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at V.N.A. Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 86.

She was born Aug. 6, 1919 in Porter, the daughter of George W. and Hulda S. (Johnson) Carlson, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Nov. 25, 1939 in Porter, she married Robert Edward Kelly, who survives in Valparaiso.

She is also survived by a daughter, Jacqueline K. (Bill) Evans, of Jasper, Ga.; two sons, Robert E. (Nancy) Kelly, Jr., of Melbourne, Fla. and Terry L. Kelly, of South Bend; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Carlson.

Helen was a member of Chesterton’s First United Methodist Church. She was a member and Past-President of Chesterton Woman’s Club. She also was a member of the Board of Trustees of Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry for 10 years and a member of the Westchester Twp. Advisory Board for four years.

Memorial services, Pastor Terry C. Rhine officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Cremation will be at Calvary Crematory, Portage.

Memorials may be given to Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry.
