Dorothy Sindelar, of Chesterton, formerly of Bradenton, Fla., passed away
Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005 at Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, LaPorte. She was
86.
She was born Oct. 15, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Chernock)
Perkaus, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonita Clark, of Chino, Calif and Cathy
(Michael) Lewis of Chesterton; four grandchildren, Timothy (Karen McClarnand)
Ledbetter of Lake Mary, Fla., Tamera (Ernest) Ramirez of Chino, Calif., Cara
(Robert) Gonzales of Phoenix, Ariz. and Matthew Lewis of Chesterton; six
great-grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jonathan, Jordana Ramirez and Mason
Ledbetter and Jacob Gonzalez; a sister, Mary Gornick of Burbank, Ill. and
many loving nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Vincent A. Sindelar in 1994
and a sister, Evelyn Bures.
Dorothy was an employee of Western Electric for 15 years. She was a member
of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradenton, Fla. She enjoyed cooking,
gardening, was an avid reader and bingo player. She crocheted many beautiful
items over the years and very much enjoyed working with many types of
crafts. She was a resident of Chesterton for the past three years.
A memorial mass will be offered at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at St. Paul the
Apostle Catholic Church, Chino Hills, Calif.
Memorials may be given to the Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry, Chesterton
or to your local Food Pantry in Dorothy’s name.
