Alma Dale Hanaway dies at 85

Alma Dale Hanaway, age 85, of Valparaiso, passed away November 19, 2005 in Porter Hospital. Alma was born in Streator, IL on August 7, 1920 to Zula (nee Hite) Franklin Miller and Lottis Franklin. She married Arnold C. Hanaway on September 7, 1941, he preceded her in death on December 16, 1966.

Alma worked as a beautician in Valparaiso after moving there from DeMotte. She is survived by her two sons, Robert A. (Margaret) Hanaway of Valparaiso and James C (Susan) Hanaway of North Brunswick, NJ.

Her grandchildren are Marcie (Michael) Donnely, Old Bridge, NJ, Melissa (Alan) DeAndrea, North Brunswick, NJ, Julie A. Hanaway, Valparaiso and John T. Hanaway of Valparaiso. She had five great grandchildren, Sean and Adian Donnely and Joshua, Timothy and Nathan DeAndrea. She was a Dear Mamaw to Emily, Meghan, Colton, Travis, Kayla, Cody and Trevor. She has one surviving brother Lee Ed (Pat) Miller of Florida.

Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. at Edmonds and Evans in Chesterton. A Family Graveside Service will be held in DeMotte, IN at the DeMotte Cemetery Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony’s Behavioral Medical Facility located on Cumberland Dr., Valparaiso, IN.

Mrs. Hanaway was grateful for the caring staff and the facility.
