Adam S. Hughes dies at 17

Adam S. Hughes, of Portage, died Oct. 8, 2005 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus. He was 17.

He was born Feb. 20, 1988 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the son of Timothy and Cindy (Okins) Hughes, both of whom survive in Portage.

He is also survived by a brother, Joshua P. Hughes of Chesterton and two sisters, Shawna Hughes and Katelynn N. Hughes, both of Portage; maternal grandfather, Fred Okins of Mich.; Paternal grandmother, Barbara Hughes of Portage; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Dixie Runions in 1997 and paternal grandfather, Donald Hughes Sr. in 1995.

Adam attended the Portage Adult Education Center. He was an avid skateboarder and photographer. Adam also enjoyed listening to music, going to concerts and hanging out with his many friends. He was a member of Portage Missionary Baptist Church.

A funeral service, Pastor Jerry Vernon officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Interment will be at Heritage Cemetery, Portage.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel.
