Venita M. Flanagan dies at 84

Venita M. Flanagan, of Chesterton, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at the waters of Duneland Health Care Center, Chesterton. She was 84.

She was born July 4, 1920 in Jefferson County, Ill., the daughter of Harley and Clara (Short) Hayes, both of whom preceded her in death.

On May 14, 1960 in Gary, she married Gerald G. Flanagan, who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by three sons, Michael (Kristine) Flanagan of Porter, Ron (Linda) Moore and Roger Moore both of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; daughters Teresa (Dewey) Falcone of Redondo Beach, Calif., Barbara Frizzell of Palm Desert, Calif.; brothers Fred (Joanne) Dikeman of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Koch, a brother, Bill Hayes and a sister, Marie Creek.

She was a home maker, who lived in the area for 49 years.

A funeral service, Rev. Ed Mitchell officiating, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
