Rose Tecsi dies at 88

Rose Tecsi, of Porter, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Fountain View Place, Portage. She was 88.

She was born Aug. 2, 1916 in Gary, the daughter of George and Mary (Lengal) Tarkany, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married in Gary to Arthur R. Tecsi, who preceded her in death in 1985.

She is survived by four sons, Arthur R. (Denise) Tecsi of Niles, Mich., Eliot G. (Carrie) Tecsi of Orland, Ind., Ray P. (Luisa) Tecsi of Westville and David A. Tecsi of Fitchburg, Maine; two daughters, Rose (Daniel) Robinson of Portage and Vida (Ronald) Berry of Valparaiso; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike Tarkane of Portage and a sister, Anna Smith of Medford Lake, N.J.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lanna J. Emerson in 1998; a sister, Mary Ferketich and two brothers, George Tarkane and John Tarkany. She was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, Porter and a former member of Gary Artists’ League.

She was a graduate of Gary Froebel High School and was retired from Wirt High School, where she retired as Head Cook, with 21 years of service.

Funeral services, Pastor Erik Bernth officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Burstrom Cemetery, Porter.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, or to the Porter County VNA Hospice Program.
