Rev. Luis L. Cuellar dies at 88

Rev. Luis L. Cuellar, a resident of this area since 1952, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004. He was 88.

He was born Dec. 10, 1916 in Brownsville, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Marian N. Spradling Cuellar; children, Mary Lou Lawsen of Hisperia, Calif., Lidia Cuellar of Brownsville, Texas, Yolanda C. Ortiz, of Brownsville, Texas, Cleo C. Palmer (James F.) of Brownsville, Texas; Sue Vance, Billie W. Evans, Sandra L. Cuellar, Barbara J. England (Loren), Linda E. Cuellar, Luis L. Cuellar, Jr. (Sandy); and Anieta M. Cuellar; one foster child, Patricia (James) Ireland; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie Cuellar and August Cuellar; and sisters, Estella Cuellar, Tina Cuellar, all of Brownsville, Texas.

Luis retired from U.S. Steel where he was an overhead crane operator. He worked in the mill to provide for his family while his love was to teach people about Jesus and His loving grace.

Funeral services, Pastor Rod Huber officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
