Reginald J. Dick Lenard dies at 82

Reginald J. (Dick) Lenard, of Chesterton, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at the waters of Duneland Health Care Center. He was 82.

He was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Roseland, Ill., the son of Michael and Wanda (Wilczewski) Lenard, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by long time companion, Lucille Gibbs of Michigan City; two sons, Robert J. (Nancy) Lenard and James (Kim) Lenard, both of Chesterton; two sisters, Loretta Grochmal and Norberta (Charles Sr.) Zimmer, both of Tinley Park, Ill. and three grandchildren, Carrie, Bobby and Anna-Lisse.

He was a Chesterton resident for 26 years. He was the retired owner of House of Carpets of Michigan City. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Michigan City Moose Lodge and was a small craft pilot. He enjoyed horses, planes, boats and he played cards with his friends. He was also a ham radio operator.

A funeral service, Rev. Selvaraj Selladurai officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lansing, Ill.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Eric O’Sullivan Cystic Fibrosis Fund.
