Mary Catherine Beck dies at 72

The mother of a Chesterton resident, Mary Catherine Beck, of Michigan City, died, Nov. 3, 2004 at St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City. She was 72.

She was born Jan. 15, 1932 in Gary, the daughter of Edward and Mary Catherine (Smith) Brant, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Feb. 19, 1953 in Black Oak, she married Delmos L. “Lynwood” Beck, who preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1999.

She is survived by her daughters, Leanna Beck and Mary (Bill) Cook, both of Michigan City, Betty Sergent of Chesterton, Linda (Paul) Smith of Houston, Texas and Karen (Rev. Ron) Berard of Johnston, R.I.; nine grandchildren, Matt Bush, Michael (Pam) Cook, Jennifer Cook, Lauren and Brent Sergent, Catherine Stuart, Anthony, Jacqueline and Danielle Berard; great-grandchildren, Payton Mary Catherine Bush, Brendon and Nathaniel Cook and Fritz.

She was also preceded by three brothers, one sister and son-in-law Brentford Sergent Jr.

She was a member of Chesterton Southern Baptist Church. She was a pianist at the church. She devoted her life to her family and serving the Lord.

A funeral service, Pastor Rick Henderson officiating, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Chesterton Southern Baptist Church, 213 S. 19th St., Chesterton. Interment will be at Heritage Cemetery, Portage.

Visitation, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 at Chesterton Southern Baptist Church.
