Mary Ann Tubb dies at 81

The mother of a Chesterton resident, Mary Ann Tubb, 81, of Brownfield, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock Texas.

She was born Nov. 27, 1923 in Bay City, Mich.

On March 2, 1946 in Lubbock Texas, she married Harvey Tubb, who survives.

She is also survived a son, Johnny Tubb of Lenorah, Texas; three daughters, Rose Marie Moore of Baytown, Texas, Debra Graham of Bownfield, Texas and Carol TenPas of Chesterton; a brother, Tom Gradowski of Essexville, Mich.; three sisters, Florence Nowak of Bay City, Mich., Irene Rasdorf of Morrisdale, Pa. and Margie Pflueger of Bay City, Mich. and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Gradowski.

Mary Ann met her husband Harvey in Long Beach, Calif., where he was serving in the U.S. Navy. After they were married, they lived in several towns in Texas, including Lubbock, Witharral, Ropesville, Wellman and Lenorah, Goldthwaite and Brownfield.

Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs. She was a bus driver, a substitute teacher, a school reporter, a lunch room employee, a grocery store clerk at Wellman Grocery and the school secretary for Grady ISD for seven years. Her first love was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Other interests included gardening, quilting, photography and traveling.

Funeral services, Rev. Gerald Leatham, Pastor, officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Brownfield. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery and under the direction of George C. Price Funeral Directors.
