The mother of a Chesterton resident, Mary Ann Seely, of Timber Ridge (Matteson), Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 23 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 8, 1918 in Harvey, Ill.

She was married to Raymond C. Seely, who preceded her in death in 1988.

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Seely of Downers Grove, Ill.; a son, Charles (Cathi) Seely of Chesterton; 10 grandchildren, Brent and Nicole Fry, Jesse, Brittani, Brendan, Raymond (Tracy) and Michael Seely and Dennis, Derek and Dana Hollingsworth; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Nolte (1994); a son, Raymond (Eileen) Seely (2002); a sister, Fanny Sutherland; and three brothers, Frank (Margaret) Polizzi, Sam (June) Polizzi and Andy (late Josephine) Polizzi.

She was a home maker. She was a graduate of Thornton Twp. High School. Grandson Brent Fry lived with and cared for her in her final years.

A funeral mass, Rev. Michael Nacius officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Matteson. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Ill.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to mass at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, Chicago Heights, Ill.
